Common Wealth Games 2010 in New Delhi, India

The Commonwealth Games 2010 are soon going to be held in Delhi, India. This is the first time the Commonwealth Games will be held in India. All Games of Commonwealth games are Scheduled between 3 October and 14 October 2010. Commonwealth games will be the largest multi-games event conducted in Delhi and India generally, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening ceremony of Commonwealth games in India is going to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.

This the first time India held Commonwealth Games after Jamaica (1996) and Malasyia (1998).
Pune the major IT City of India hosted the IIIrd Commonwealth Youth Games between October 12 and 18, 2008 which have been held under the Commonwealth Games Federation.

The 17 sports to feature in the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi will be held at six venue clusters and five stand alone venues in Delhi. Ceremonies, Athletics, Lawn Bowls and Weightlifting will be held at Cluster I: Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex; Cycling, Gymnastics and Wrestling at Cluster II: Indira Gandhi Sports Complex; Archery (Qualification Rounds) and Table Tennis at Cluster III: Yamuna Sports Complex; Badminton and Squash at Cluster IV: Siri Fort Sports Complex; Hockey and Archery Finals (India Gate) at Cluster V: MDC National Stadium Complex; and Swimming and Boxing at Cluster VI: Talkatora Garden Complex.

Twenty-six new training venues are being constructed for the Delhi 2010 for different sports. Work has been initiated on all the training venues and is progressing satisfactorily. Apart from this, 16 training venues are being upgraded and will be ready on schedule.

Tickets for Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi: Shall be on sale in May 2010 and 1.7 million tickets will be available. Tickets are subject to availability, and will remain on sale until the start of each event. You can also buy tickets on-line. Log-in here regularly for updates. There will also be free events, including Road Cycling and Marathon. These events will take place at Central Vista (India Gate) and Greater Noida Expressway.
